Naked Planet Jewelry is designed to balance the body using the healing properties of gemstones and crystals. For thousands of years, ancient civilizations have utilized the power of crystals to release mental, physical and spiritual blockages, thus facilitating the free flow of prana (energy) throughout the body. WHAT ARE MALA BEADS?
A Japa mala or mala in (Sanskrit:माला) mālā, means garland. It is a set of beads commonly used by Hindus and Buddhists. Malas are used for keeping count while meditating, reciting, chanting, or mentally repeating a mantra or the name of a deity. This practice is known in Sanskrit as japa. Malas are used to support Dharana (Sanskrit: धारणा) means concentration, introspective focus and one-pointedness of mind, it is the six limb of Patanjali's 8 limb path of yoga. Dhyana (Sanskrit: ध्यान) literally means "contemplation, reflection" and "profound, abstract meditation". Dhyana is contemplating, reflecting on whatever Dharana has focussed on. Malas are typically made with 18, 27, 54 or 108 beads. My mala beads are finished with a tassel, or two hanging beads or bracelet style with the guru bead finished sideways for ease to wear as a bracelet.
I mindfully hand knotted all my mala necklaces reciting a mantra as a blessing to increase their vibration. They are cleansed with Palo Santo which is a sacred wood related to Frankincense and Myrrh. Palo Santo purifies, cleanses and banishes misfortune and evil spirits, therefore. It is considered a "holy wood" and a sacred wood of prayer.
