The Lotus represents rising up from the murky waters to bloom into a perfect flower as a metaphor. The lotus flower roots in stagnant, marshy water, raising its blossom way above in flawless beauty and cleanness. This has given the name to what is called the lotus effect. The lotus stands for purity and spirituality like no other symbol. It is regarded as a sign for modesty, immortality, enlightenment and peace.
The lotus flower is one of the eight auspicious symbols in Buddhism (Ashtamangala) – it is simply not possible to imagine Tibetan everyday life without it. However, this promising symbolic group is also very popular in other Buddhist traditions, as well as in Hinduism and Jainism. The meaning of the lotus flower in Buddhism is multi-layered and very complex. The open blossom represents the purity of body, speech and mind. Generally speaking the lotus is associated with enlightenment, divine birth, beauty and wealth.

The Eight Auspicious Symbols (Collection)
In Tibetan Buddhist Tradition, the set of ‘Eight Auspicious Symbols’ is the most popular. In Sanskrit they are known as Ashtamangala, ashta meaning ‘eight’ and mangala meaning ‘auspicious.’ In Tibetan they are known as Tashee-Tag-Gyay , tashee means ‘auspicious’, tag means ‘sign or symbol,’ and gyay means ‘eight.’
The ‘Eight Auspicious Symbols’ of good fortune represent the offerings presented by the great Vedic gods to Shakyamuni Buddha upon his attainment of enlightenment.
I mindfully hand knot my mala necklaces reciting a mantra as a blessing to increase their vibration. They are cleansed with Palo Santo which is a sacred wood related to Frankincense and Myrrh. Palo Santo purifies, cleanses and banishes misfortune and evil spirits, therefore. It is considered a "holy wood" and a sacred wood of prayer.
Moonstone is strongly connected to moon and to intuition. It is a women’s stone, directly associated with the Mother Goddess. Moonstone has also been called Water Opal, Fish Eye, and Wolf’s Eye, and has long considered to have inherent insoluble connections to the moon and it’s energies. In India, the Moonstone (named Candra Kanta) is quite sacred. It has a nurturing, reflective and calming energy. Moonstone strengthens intuition, psychic perception and meditation. It honors the feminine aspect of the self and so will aid women to become more fluent with their inner Goddess. It allows for greater flexibility in life as it soothes stress and anxiety.
Citrine is called the "Success Stone." It is said to promote and manifest success and abundance in all areas. Citrine is a solar plexus chakra stone used metaphysically to increase, magnify and clarify personal power and energy. Citrine is a fabulous stone to use to combat negative energy. Citrine brings more joy, wisdom and clarity into our lives.
Citrine is one of the official birthstones of November.

**** A message about gold filled. 14k gold filled is not gold plated, it is a high quality product in which a solid layer of 14k gold is permanently bonded to a core of jeweler's brass by using heat and pressure. The gold will not wear off.
Please note the following information regarding precious metals:
Gold-plated: A base metal such as steel or brass is dipped into a bath of electroplating solution, with a lump of solid gold. When an electric current is applied, a thin layer of gold is deposited on the metal. Since the plating is quite thin, the plate (and hence the colour) on findings can wear off.
Sterling Silver: is a mixture of pure silver and some other metal, usually copper. The resulting alloy gives the silver strength. The standard is at least 92.5% silver. Hence the .925 stamp you see on some sterling silver items.
Vermeil: (Pronounced: Vermay) is sterling silver that has been gold-plated. Most of our vermeil is plated with 22K-24K gold. This is a good combination for those with allergy to normal, plated jewelry items. The difference between vermeil, and gold-filled, is in the thickness of the gold and the base metal used. In vermeil, the base is sterling silver.
Gold-filled: also called rolled-gold. These jewelry items are not actually filled with gold. They are made of a base metal (usually silver, brass or copper) covered by sheets of gold in a mechanical bonding process. Effectively a thick coat of gold: the gold content is 5% or 1/20 of the total weight. Use gold-filled items for your top-of-the-line jewelry. Usually made with 14k gold, it is hard wearing. With reasonable care it will not peel or flake, and should last as long as solid 14k gold jewelry. It is safe for most people with sensitive skin.
Fine metals reacts with chlorine and heat. Never take your jewelry into a pool or spa.
Please do not wear your mala during yoga asana especially on the wrists, it weakens the knots. :)
What are MATTE BEADS? It requires more steps than the traditional polished stone. The bead starts its life as a polished bead- its cut, drilled polished. Then, it goes back into the tumbler with a fine grit powder, water, additional tiny stones and tumbled to matte perfection. Each stone type requires a different amount of time in the tumbler, depending on the material's hardness and characteristics. Harder materials take longer (as long as two hours), and may require multiple tumbles with different compounds to get the finish "just right."
