108 Mala Beads Aquamarine Rudraksha Hand Wire Wrap Thai Silver Buddha Om Kali Ma Charm Rosary Yoga Jewelry, Long Necklace, March Birthstone

$175.50 $195.00

This was my personal necklace that I am letting go into the universe for some special person to adopt and care for. This 108 beaded mala was diligently and lovingly wire wrapped using sterling silver wire. The mala is made with 3mm Rudraksha beads and 4mm faceted Aquamarine beads. It is finished with a pearl enhancer, used as a clasp that is covert, so it fits into the design. I placed it there so it can be worn as a bracelet for ease of taking on and off the wrist. This mala can also be worn as a long necklace or double and triple wrapped. The beads are attached to a Sterling Silver large round chain. I have hung a fine silver thai Buddha charm, an Om charm, and a 50 year old Indian amulet of Kali Ma. There is also another Aquamarine Charm. This is a special piece of jewelry. The entire piece has been oxidized to bring out the color in the stones. The art of Aparigraha, the fifth Yama in the Eight Limb Path. The art of letting go, non-hoarding and putting things out into the world that others can cherish. Namaste.....

** Note**
I do all my own wire wrapping by hand using only gold filled wire or sterling silver wire. Now days a jewelry designer can buy pre made wire wrapped semi precious stones. These chains are wire wrapped on gold plated wire and silver filled wire which is much different than gold filled or sterling. Please go to my about page to see a detailed explanation of the difference between metals. :)

Rudraksha seed beads are dried seeds from the Rudraksha tree. They are used in the Hindu culture to create sacred garlands. Rudraksha trees grow on mountains and hilly regions of Nepal, Indonesia, Java, Sumatra and Burma. Rudraksha evolve from the eyes of Lord Shiva, "rudra" means Shiva and "aksha" means eyes. Aksha also means a group of alphabets in Sanskrit called (Varna). Rosaries made out of Rudraksha Beads in auspicious numbers like (108+1, 54+1, 27+1) are called Rudraksha Malas. The +1 bead is called as Sumeru (Guru), it is not crossed while chanting, and is considered the boundary for returning in the reverse direction for further counting. The Mala is used as an amulet as well as "Japa" (Chanting Mantra for Spiritual attainments).

The teaching founded by the Buddha is known, in English, as Buddhism. ... A Buddha is one who has attained Bodhi; and by Bodhi is meant wisdom, an ideal state of intellectual and ethical perfection which can be achieved by man through purely human means. The term Buddha literally means enlightened one, a knower.

The Om is the most sacred sound and symbol in the universe. It is a symbol that connects us to our highest
self and connects to all life around us.

Kālī; Sanskrit: काली is the Hindu goddess associated with empowerment, or shakti. She is the mighty aspect of the goddess Durga. The name of Kali means black one and force of time, she is therefore called the Goddess of Time, Change, Power, Creation, Preservation, and Destruction. Her earliest appearance is that of a destroyer principally of evil forces. Various Shakta Hindu cosmologies, as well as Shākta Tantric beliefs, worship her as the ultimate reality or Brahman; and recent devotional movements re-imagine Kāli as a benevolent mother goddess. She is often portrayed standing or dancing on her consort, the Hindu god Shiva, who lies calm and prostrate beneath her. Kali is worshipped by Hindus throughout India but particularly South India, Bengal, and Assam.

Since the beginning, cultures around the world have had the desire to posses a tangible and personal form of worship, and these plaque style amulets reflect that desire. This amulet come from the Indian states of Rajasthan. They were made from the late 19th to early 20th centuries and is approximately 75-100 yrs old.

Additional

**** A message about gold filled. 14k gold filled is not gold plated, it is a high quality product in which a solid layer of 14k gold is permanently bonded to a core of jeweler's brass by using heat and pressure. The gold will not wear off.

Please note the following information regarding precious metals:

Gold-plated: A base metal such as steel or brass is dipped into a bath of electroplating solution, with a lump of solid gold. When an electric current is applied, a thin layer of gold is deposited on the metal. Since the plating is quite thin, the plate (and hence the colour) on findings can wear off.

Sterling Silver: is a mixture of pure silver and some other metal, usually copper. The resulting alloy gives the silver strength. The standard is at least 92.5% silver. Hence the .925 stamp you see on some sterling silver items.

Vermeil: (Pronounced: Vermay) is sterling silver that has been gold-plated. Most of our vermeil is plated with 22K-24K gold. This is a good combination for those with allergy to normal, plated jewelry items. The difference between vermeil, and gold-filled, is in the thickness of the gold and the base metal used. In vermeil, the base is sterling silver.

Gold-filled: also called rolled-gold. These jewelry items are not actually filled with gold. They are made of a base metal (usually silver, brass or copper) covered by sheets of gold in a mechanical bonding process. Effectively a thick coat of gold: the gold content is 5% or 1/20 of the total weight. Use gold-filled items for your top-of-the-line jewelry. Usually made with 14k gold, it is hard wearing. With reasonable care it will not peel or flake, and should last as long as solid 14k gold jewelry. It is safe for most people with sensitive skin.

Fine metals reacts with chlorine and heat. Never take your jewelry into a pool or spa.
Please do not wear your mala during yoga asana especially on the wrists, it weakens the knots. :)

What are MATTE BEADS? It requires more steps than the traditional polished stone. The bead starts its life as a polished bead- its cut, drilled polished. Then, it goes back into the tumbler with a fine grit powder, water, additional tiny stones and tumbled to matte perfection. Each stone type requires a different amount of time in the tumbler, depending on the material's hardness and characteristics. Harder materials take longer (as long as two hours), and may require multiple tumbles with different compounds to get the finish "just right."
